John F. O’Reilly

John F. O’Reilly is the Managing Partner of O’Reilly Law Offices, LLC. John O’Reilly began his legal career as an intern with William J. Harte, Ltd. drafting appellate briefs. Once sworn in as a lawyer, he worked at Wiedner & McAuliffe, Ltd. handling insurance and municipal defense litigation work.
In 1997, John joined his late father, Roger K. O’Reilly (d. 2000), and his sister, Molly M. O’Reilly, to form the O’Reilly Law Offices, LLC. Since then, he has represented municipalities in the defense of civil rights, personal injury, and employment cases. Additionally, John has represented individuals who have been injured due to negligence, product design negligence and medical negligence. He has experience in all aspects of litigation, including bench and jury trials and appellate practice in both state and federal courts.
John O’Reilly received his Bachelor of Arts from Providence College during which time he studied at Blackfriar’s College at Oxford University. He earned his juris doctor degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School, and was admitted as attorney to the Illinois Supreme Court and the U. S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1992.
John is a member of the Federal Trial Bar, the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He is also a member of the DuPage County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
As the son of Roger O’Reilly, John served as one of the committee members of the Roger K. O’Reilly Symposium on Civility in the Practice of Law which ultimately inspired the foundation of the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism.
John has served on the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism since 2017.
