Kurt Reitz

Kurt Reitz is a Partner at Thompson Coburn LLP in Belleville, IL where he works as the managing partner of the Belleville office and as the co-chair of the firm’s Tort Litigation Group. He is experienced in the defense of personal injury and property damage litigation including FELA, crossing, trucking, product liability, class action, and mass tort litigation. Mr. Reitz has substantial experience in the preparation and trial of these matters and in appellate proceedings in both state and federal courts. Mr. Reitz has briefed and argued numerous cases in the Illinois state appellate courts and in the Illinois Supreme Court and Missouri Supreme Court. He has also briefed and argued cases in the United States Courts of Appeals for the Seventh and Eighth Circuits.
Mr. Reitz previously served for 10 years as a judicial hearing office for the ARDC and also served as a member of the ARDC’s oversight committee for 5 years. He is a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
Mr. Reitz received a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, and a B.A. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He has served on the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism since 2021.
