Discuss GenAI Opportunities and Ethical Concerns with Fellow Lawyers at the Future Is Now Conference

Nicole Black future is now 2025

Count the legal profession among those industries on the brink of a technological revolution, thanks to generative AI (GenAI).

Legal services provider Clio reports that 79% of lawyers are using AI and roughly three-quarters of hourly billable tasks have the potential to be automated by AI.

Last year, the Illinois Supreme Court announced a policy governing the use of AI in Illinois courts, which says that the use of AI is expected and should not be discouraged, provided it complies with legal and ethical standards.

Explore how this transformative technology can reshape your practice while navigating its ethical challenges at the Commission on Professionalism’s annual Future Is Now: Legal Services 2025. The virtual conference will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 12 to 4:30 p.m. CDT. CLE is available for attendees.

Getting started with GenAI

In a session titled “GenAI in Legal Practice: Ethics, Efficiency and Emerging Trends,” Nicole (Niki) Black — a renowned attorney, author, and legal technology expert — will provide specific strategies on how lawyers can integrate publicly available GenAI tools like ChatGPT into their daily workflows while maintaining ethical compliance.

From drafting documents and summarizing complex materials to generating creative ideas for cross-examinations, this talk will showcase how GenAI can enhance lawyers’ efficiency without compromising professional standards.

Following Niki’s presentation, an interactive 40-minute town hall discussion will delve into the critical issues lawyers need to know when using GenAI tools in their practice. This will be an opportunity for participants to ask Niki questions, share perspectives, and discuss concerns about getting started with GenAI.
