How do you remain civil in tense situations?
I have learned not to take things personally. That is the best way to stay calm. When tempers are raised, it helps to keep calm by remembering that it’s not about me, it’s about the issue.
What is an attorney’s role in furthering public confidence in the rule of law?
Lawyers should remember that they are lawyers even when they are not at work. The way we act in public or what people read about us in the press can deeply affect the way lawyers are seen as a whole.
We can further the public’s confidence in the rule of law by being the professionals that we are called to be at all times, including when the public can see us.
What do you think is the biggest challenge impacting lawyers today?
I think the profession will be greatly affected by the implementation of AI in all walks of our lives and careers.
I think the biggest challenge to lawyers is keeping on top of the changes in the law and the changes in the world around us. In addition, acting professionally and not compromising our ethics in light of those changes.
What do you do for fun?
My husband and I enjoy spending time with our two teenagers and traveling together as a family.
